Apparently there is an indie game firm doing a 3d remake of 2 that should come out soon. Google the subject line and you should see links instantly. It's non profit, so I hope Capcom doesn't try to squash it.

Capcom just shut down this project, but they've asked the team behind it to meet with them and discuss ideas about the upcoming remake. That's kinda cool. We might see some things from their attempt show up in the real remake.
