The comment you read off DA was, no offense, but a very ignorant statement and was most likely referring to the fact that since there are now kittypets in the clan, when they mate, the kits won't be full-blood clan cats. (That's what I gathered from the "infected" bit anyway.)

Bluestar wasn't stupid and wouldn't have taken Cloudpaw in had she not thought it was a good choice - period.

Firestar does avoid a lot of confrontation, this world isn't about fighting everyone over every little thing and besides, in every fight you risk losing cats; Firestar understands this it's not fair to condemn him for having the clans best interests in mind instead of gallivanting off into battle every time someone accidentally pees on the boarder. The only place fighting endless battles over frivolous things will get you is in a grave.

I believe Whitestorm was his deputy first and then afterwards, I believe it was Greystripe - though I could be wrong, it's been a while - but there was that whole thing with his kits being in RiverClan and when their mother dies, they still belong to their mother's clan (it's kind of like the Jewish faith) so he joins RiverClan to be with them for a time - which stirs some problems in the clan even though I believe this happened before Firestar becomes leader - and after coming back to ThunderClan he's taken away by twolegs...Brambleclaw was Firestar's last resort after that whole thing with Tigerstar but Brambleclaw has proven himself to be better than Tigerstar and heaps more loyal.

If you want to get caught up on specifics - specifics that I can't give you because it's been so long since I've read the books - you should probably head on over to the Warrior Cats wiki. (While wikipedia isn't very reliable, the Warrior Cats wiki is a little more organized.)

I haven't read book 3 or any of the Warrior Cats books in quite some time so I'm not sure whether or not Firestar had permission to take Cloudpaw to his mother but I'm sure he didn't.

I don't think Erin Hunter is trying to sell us on the fact that kittypets are better than clan born cats but more to the fact that kittypets can be clan cats, period. If you notice, in the first book, Firestar catches a lot of **** for being a kittypet and continues to do so throughout the series. Even after he becomes leader there's a bit of a problem with some clan born cats who don't feel he'd be a good leader just because he wasn't clan born.

It's not about which type of cat is better, it's about the fact that kittypets aren't as weak as clan cats believe them to be and that they can pull their weight too.

The decision to bring Cloudpaw into the clan was well founded, I believe. Princess didn't want her son to be a housepet and she saw her brother doing well and living happily with his clan and that's what she wanted for Cloudpaw. While it may not have been cleared with the clan first, Cloudpaw has proven to be a very nice addition to ThunderClan and he's very loyal, albeit a little reckless. Besides, after Firestar there will be another clan born leader - last I read he appointed Brambleclaw - Tigerstar's son - as his deputy, so fret not.

Unless there's been a big change in the clan line-up between the ending of "The New Prophecy" series and the six books that follow, clan cats still outnumber kittypets, I don't know where you heard that there are too many.

Wow, you've got a ways to go 'til "Sunset" and that's not even the end, there are six other books after that that I haven't read. I think you'll change your mind about Firestar, though - while he's made up to be better than he is, I don't think he's overrated terribly and has proven himself to be a good leader.

This was off-topic for the "Revelations" thread and, I'm not sure how far into the Warriors series you are but Firestar makes a really good leader later on. (Of course I haven't read since "Sunset" - the end of "The New Prophecy" set so things might have changed.)
