Black metal is perhaps popular in certain circles, but the average Norwegian has no clue about those groups because they don't listen to black metal. It's not played on radio.
Black metal is also often associated (correctly or incorrectly) with Satanism, vandalism and arson. (Note that what I call black metal is not necessarily true black metal, because I can't differ black metal from death metal etc.)

I'm afraid I don't know any of those bands, all I know is that Burzum is some kind of black metal (or something) band. I guess all the others you mentioned is similar type of music.

Funny that someone in America knows more about them than me. It's a bit typical actually, because that type of music is not popular here.
