What are you watching?

I've watched all episodes of The Mandalorian recently as well, and while I agree that they're lightyears ahead of the sequel trilogy there's still room for improvement. OK, so at least this time they got two things right: good story and interesting characters. However, I still have an issue with Disney's obsession of re-using familiar elements and aestethics. Even when they try to create original stuff, like planets for example, they still look like a mixture between Bespin and Tatooine or something. I'm getting tired of seeing the same old stuff on planets that's supposed to be new and have their own unique style. Just take the Jawas for example, in the old canon they can only be found on Tatooine but now in Disney's canon they can be found on countless of different planets, apparently. It's getting tiredsome. Say what you want about George Lucas but at least he tried to make every single planet look unique in its own way.

Yup, I also noticed the Luke scene at the end of Season 2 looked eerily similar aesthetically to the Vader Death Star scene from Rogue One. When I was watching, I thought "they literally just ripped Luke in place of Darth and swapped the Troopers with droids". I was amped when it happened, but I couldn't help but gawk at how much it copies the Vader Rogue One scene.

Anyways, I just watched Wonder Woman 1984 on HBO Max over the Christmas break, hated it. I came in wanting to like it, I really did as I enjoyed the hell out of the first movie, but it wasn't good at all. There's so many plot holes in this movie, I'm surprised none of the actors fell through them and broke their neck during filming, topped off with such horrid pacing. It was a total snooze to get through. When your movie is 2 and a half hours and only 15-20 or so minutes of action, most of it at the end, your characters better be hella interesting, and they weren't in the slightest. There's clunky dialog with boring character arcs that go nowhere throughout the bulk of the movie after that cheesy mall scene, which left me cringing. This is to say nothing of all the aforementioned plot holes during that time, and some real headscratchers at that.

Oh, and Wonder Woman totally raped that guy. WTF were they thinking? If the roles were reversed, everyone would rightfully be calling for WB execs' and Patty Jenkins' head on a platter. This is as bad, if not worse than the "Martha" sh!t in BvS.

Haven't watched Wonder Woman 84 yet, but now I am more intrigued than ever. haha.

On New Years Day, I just sat in bed and binged ALL of Cobra Kai Season 3. That show is so over the top, but it still really gets my little heart pounding. I really enjoyed the arcs of the season and the finale was well done. I am glad that they are taking their time with the characters and not rushing them in to being different people. Sure, Johnny is learning how to be more responsible and how to be a better teacher, but he is clearly still a douche. And sometimes it's all good and sometimes it's an absolute mess. But that is what makes the character interesting. Same goes for Daniel. The characters are so great at their highs, but sometimes even better at their lows.

And the return to Japan arc was so sweet and heart warming. It's crazy we'll be waiting so long for Season 4 (how long can these actors stay 17?)

Well, because of boredom..I’ve been watching Ripper Street on Netflix and I’m a wee bit addicted. I’ve also been watching Monty Python’s Flying Circus for the umpteenth time.

Watching and re watching some of the DC extend universe movie or whatever is Called now
The only good movie about this universe are batman vs superman extended cut and shazam, maybe the two wonder woman a bit, the other are just bad or lame movies...

One notable thing is that the every movie just got the actors right and they deliver good performances , whoever selected theme did an amazing job

I just got through most of the first season of True Blood on HBO Max, am really enjoying this show so far. This has the most unique take on vampires of any movie or show I've ever seen, and I'm loving it. The vamps have a unique personality relative to other movies or shows that has me coming back for more and the characters are all fleshed out and interesting in their own way, perfectly mixing humor with horror. I like how this show actually acknowledges the existence of vampires, even has vampire-branded beer and blood medicine.

I hear it drops off in quality after 5 seasons, though, so we'll just see how it goes, but I'll continue to watch.

WandaVision. I don’t care about the MCU these days but since I got Disney+ it’s included anyway. It’s average, but not as bad as I thought.

I watched the first two episodes of WandaVision, but I am holding off the rest so I can binge it at the end. It is so heartbreaking to be captured by a story and then have it just stop for a week. I enjoyed the first two episodes. I like the call back to early 60s sitcoms and I know there is something deeper involved at some point, but I can enjoy the show for the hokey parody for now.

Watching Trailer Park Boys for the 4th time right now. Easy to watch and it gets more entertaining as you watch it. And I love hearing that thick Canadian accent.

I just finished watching Wheels on Meals for the first time in years. I had forgotten how absolutely hilarious that film is. Not necessarily the best Jackie Chan film in terms of the fight choreography, but an all around fun romp, especially if you're in the mood for a classic kung-fu movie that doesn't take itself too seriously.

I saw this in theaters a couple months ago, and while I knew I would like it, I didn't expect it to be as f*cking hilarious and honestly, brutal, as it was. That opening kill with the wine bottle. Jesus Christ.

@KennedyKiller @Rain611 I rented it on Prime Video a couple months ago, it's mildly entertaining, and yes, I laughed when Vince Vaughn was playing a teenage girl in the body of a deranged serial killer. It's not by any means a great movie (original Halloween, TCM or NoES, this certainly is not) and the writing is iffy in spots, but if you watch it purely as a popcorn flick, you'll have a good time and some laughs. As a slasher, you can certainly do much worse.

I just watched Bourne Ultimatum in 4K on Prime Video last night, still damn good. This movie easily has by far the best action, story, and pacing of all the Bourne films and the first and only one I can say is truly epic out of all of them (even though I enjoyed the other two as well). This film perfectly plays the back-and-forth POVs between the CIA and Bourne and never misses a beat. Whereas the first two are enjoyable but flawed, this one had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Plus the twist at the end was quite the "reveal", if I do say so myself. I also really liked the song during the ending.

Midori is…without a doubt…the most depraved anime film I’ve ever seen. It makes Perfect Blue look like Sesame Street. At least that film had a message. I’m not the crispiest fry in a Happy Meal, but I consider myself a pretty learned fella. But I couldn’t find any point to this other than “Make people as uncomfortable as possible.” Like…It was artistic in a way. I’ll give it that. The choice in animation style. The music. The they they drew the obscene body horror. It was interesting. But I’ll never watch this again unless I’m trying to scar my friends. And even then I doubt we’ll get more than 20 minutes in. Jesus…

Midori is…without a doubt…the most depraved anime film I’ve ever seen. It makes Perfect Blue look like Sesame Street. At least that film had a message. I’m not the crispiest fry in a Happy Meal, but I consider myself a pretty learned fella. But I couldn’t find any point to this other than “Make people as uncomfortable as possible.” Like…It was artistic in a way. I’ll give it that. The choice in animation style. The music. The they they drew the obscene body horror. It was interesting. But I’ll never watch this again unless I’m trying to scar my friends. And even then I doubt we’ll get more than 20 minutes in. Jesus…

I'm with you. I usually dig violent movies/shows, but movies/shows that exist purely to disgust (Hostel, the Saw sequels, A Serbian Film, The Human Centipede movies, Captivity, basically torture porn) are too much even for me. Well, the Saw movies try to have something resembling a story and character development even if they go too over-the-top with the traps/mutilations in the latter installments which even I have a hard time watching, but the others?

And the funny thing is: I almost rented the first Human Centipede from Blockbuster back when those were still around and watched it at home with my good buddy. I saw the cover while browsing the Horror section and thought "this sounds interesting" not knowing about its... "exploitative" concept at the time (I seriously didn't, for real), but luckily, I decided not to rent it. Yeah, looks like I (read: we) dodged a bullet with that one. Instead of puking our guts out, we watched Pulse, which was boring AF, not sure if that's much better tbh. I rented it for free with my Rewards and afterwards, my friend was like "they should've paid ME to watch that sh!t".

Anyway, I finally got around to watching the first How to Train Your Dragon movie. I don't watch a lot of animated films and even fewer that aren't based on comic book properties, but I had a blast watching it. I'm here to tell you, it's as great as everyone says it is, a treat for viewers of all ages. The animation is top notch, which looked even more dazzling in 4K, but the story really grabbed me from start to finish. This film grows in a lot of different places, you almost feel like you're right there with Hiccup, from his devolving father-son relationship to his finding and befriending Night Fury. Any pet lover will instantly feel warm inside watching his scenes with Night Fury.

This is all topped off with some great action, an amazing ending and creature designs that look straight out of a Monster Hunter game, which now that I mention it, this is a lot more Monster Hunter than the actual Monster Hunter movie we got, thanks once again, Paul. I still haven't even watched it yet and don't know when or if I plan to subject my eyes to that sure torture (everyone says it's dreadful, shocked Pikachu face).
